Bakuchiol versus Retinol

What Is Bakuchiol?

Bakuchiol is a natural compound produced from the seeds of the Psoralea corylifolia plant, which is commonly known as Babchi.

A 2018 randomised double-blind trial published in The British Journal of Dermatology compared the benefits of Retinol versus Bakuchiol.

In the study, researchers compared 0.5% retinol (applied once in the evening) with 0.5% Bakuchiol (applied twice daily) over a period of 12 weeks.

Bakuchiol proved to be just as effective in combating the signs of sun damage without causing the stinging or scaling often experienced with retinol use.

Bakuchiol offers numerous benefits: it has anti-acne properties, helps prevent pigmentation, and provides powerful anti-aging effects.
